Okay, so my culinary forecast for the summer season is that there’s going to be a rapid increase of Instagram’s with poke bowls and cookie dough cups. A few weeks ago, I decided to do some reconnaissance on the poke bowl uprising aaaannd Beach Bum sent me a voucher, so it would have been rude not to.
When it comes to burgers in Adelaide, I thought I’d pretty much tried ‘em all. Suffice to say, I was almost gobsmacked when I saw an article by Broadsheet listing the best burgers in Adelaide with a burger joint I’d never even heard off! Gobsmacked status was then officially achieved once I realised it was legit just around the corner from me. I’m talking about Boneshaker by the way, which I attended as soon as possible post-discovery. Continue reading
Nu Suandokmai is a chef with an impressive resume. He has travelled the world, wowing diners with his punchy flavours and culinary creativity. He has also made his mark on lucky ol’ Adelaide with his involvement in Golden Boy, Gin Long and Mrs Q. Next up, Lantern By Nu, a rad new restaurant off Gouger Street, serving up modern Thai street food.
It’s literally time to start making plans for New Years (ice-cream on the couch anyone?) which means the year is just gliiiiiding on by. Here’s a little round up of the things I’ve been loving in the month of August. So here’s the OTHER stuff I’ve been into…
Why has an American burger chain opened it doors in little ol’ Mt Barker, South Australia? I wouldn’t have the sliiiightest clue but that certainly didn’t stop me from making the trek out yonder for it’s first week and checking the place out. I wasn’t the only one too with a line of eager feeders almost out the door.
Crank the heater, brew some peppermint tea and dive into some fresh sheets with a bloody good book. It’s winter time baby and what better way to get through this hellish season then to snuggle up and read? That’s where I’ll be until conditions improve and these are the books I’ve been hiding away with recently:
Karma and Crow, Whistle and Flute, Trouble and Strife, Froth and Fodder, Bricks and Stones and now we finally have another ‘something and something’ cafe to add to Adelaide’s ever expanding collection. I’m talking about the new Fine and Fettle that’s popped up on Magill Rd and although this place has followed the ‘Hip Adelaide Cafe’ guidebook when it comes to it’s name, I’m happy to report that with everything else, Fine and Fettle is marching to the beat of it’s own coffee machine.
