Acacia, 3/269 Seaview Road, HENLEY BEACH.

I’m far from living that beach babe life but when the weather heats up, I think all of us are drawn to the water in varying degrees. So last week, I decided to enjoy my breaky beachside and headed on down to the brand-spanking café in the Henley hood. I’m talkin’ about Acacia.

The joint is indisputably an interior designer’s dream with chic, clean lines and simple, modern fixtures. So pleasant, that this is a place you want to sit and stay, particularly if you’re sitting on the lucky side and scored the comfy booth seat for your sweet cheeks to revel in. Expect a classic black and white palette with a smattering of blue, because we’re by the sea of course!

The menu is an interesting one. It’s not expansive, but it has a solid variety of dishes, most of which provide an inspired twist on a classic. A perfect example of this was my ‘Guacamole’ – a dish consisting of feta, mint, chilli salsa and avocado on toast PLUS I ordered a side of bacon because I’m allllways willing to ‘make it, bacon’. A classic take on your standard avo on toast and I loved that it was fresh and different without getting too out there. My taste buds are still waking up after all!

My table-mate ordered herself the Masa Harina & Coconut Pancakes topped with berry vanilla compote, yoghurt, strawberries and toasted almonds. They were are total stunner and tasted just as good as they looked. A coconut twist on ya standard flapjacks. It worked, both on flavour as well as on my Instagram. I mean, look at that beauty!

Not being a coffee drinker myself, I feel like my breakfast reviews always miss an important element however I can tell you that my breakfast companion raved about their brew as she proceeded to slurp down her second cup. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say it’s gosh darn good.

If you really want to show a girl a good time, you offer her complimentary sparkling water. They did just that, which is why (along with all the other reasons of course) they have earned themselves a second date. Maybe a third. Maybe I’ll even introduce them to my parents if it continues to go well! I’m serious about this one.

Until next time… That’s what she said.
