Boneshaker, 221 Marion Rd, MARLESTON.

When it comes to burgers in Adelaide, I thought I’d pretty much tried ‘em all. Suffice to say, I was almost gobsmacked when I saw an article by Broadsheet listing the best burgers in Adelaide with a burger joint I’d never even heard off! Gobsmacked status was then officially achieved once I realised it was legit just around the corner from me. I’m talking about Boneshaker by the way, which I attended as soon as possible post-discovery.

Boneshaker (located on Marion Rd, please don’t stalk me) is inside a huge indoor skate/BMX park. It’s pretty much a modern day Ice-Arena Café where you could build up a killer appetite on the slopes then treat yo’self with all the food your pocket money could buy. Ooooorrr you can just go for the food, because man-oh-man, it is GOOD.

The place is an industrial style fit out with plenty of white and green – a little inspo harvested from Shake Shack, the American Burger Mecca, perhaps? I really liked the minimalist approach as well as it’s jaunt on the retro side of interiors.

I read on Broadsheet that the owner’s goal is to provide the indulgence of American food whilst injecting the quality and integrity of South Australia produce. Goal indisputably achieved.

The menu has plenty of those ‘Merican classics including the Boneburger AKA cheeseburger amazingness, a New York dog and of course ‘dem golden tater tots.

I decided to get started with their classic Boneburger with a beef patty, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, cheese and secret sauce. BIG FAN. The patty was juicy with a crispy outer crust and the salad selection was super vibrant. The bun was also straight-outta-the-oven fresh and a perfect holster for the burger stuffings.

For sides, you have a choice of fries. jalapeno poppers, sweet potato fries and totes totes. We got the fries and totes which were exactly as one would hope – hot, crispy and double the size you were expecting. Probably a ‘1 between 2’ rule should apply here!

Aaaaaand what better way to calorie load than with a super sweet bakery treat to finish off?! The counter displays a nice selection of pastries to choose from and of course (for the sake of the blog) we decided to have nibble of  a moist chocolate brownie and it’s crazy relative the brownie cronut. Both were an absolute delight.

So next time you have a hankering for burgers, do a ‘hard flip’ down to Boneshaker. You won’t be disappointed. Taaa-rust that.

Until next time…That’s what she said.
