Lucky me just came back from a quick two week trip to good ol’ America and like Mary Poppins’ travel bag, we fit in an inexplicably impressive amount! Here’s a little run down of the moments I wont be forgetting any time soon.
In n’ Out Burger – Get yo’self a Double-Double and prepare to be blown away. There’s a reason this joint has been crowned burger royalty and it’s all about those beautiful ingredients. The patty is totally where it’s at with a tasty, crunchy crust and delicious juicy meat inside. I’m also laaaavvving how fresh the salad is and don’t even get me started on the ooey, gooey yellow cheese that you’ll be dreaming about for weeks after. Trust me. Get there.
Santa Monica – If you’re spending any time at all in LA then Santa Monica is a must. With a happening strip along the shoreline packed with lovely places to eat and soak up some rays, you wont want to move until the glorious sun sets. Make sure you do though because right across the road is the picture perfect Santa Monica Pier. With cutesy shops, restaurants and plenty of tourist entertainment, this place is lovable x 1000. It reminded me of the San Francisco Pier but on a smaller scale. Also, if you have a bit of time on your hands then definitely walk along the water to Venice Beach. This place is rad with plenty of cool things to see and a slightly grimier edge than the Santa Monica scene.
Universal Studios, LA – OH. EM. GEE this place is a blast! We spent an extremely fun and exhilarating day at Universal Studios and I am definitely keen to go back like… now. The rides are amazeballs with heaps of virtual reality, 3D glasses and special effects. Plus they have the newish Wizarding World of Harry Potter which totally blew my muggle mind. A Diagon Alley with Zonko’s Joke Shop, Honeydukes and more Pumpkin Juice than you could shake a wand at equals me being in heaven. I might have to start reading the books all over again!
Paul McCartney at Desert Trip Festival – Desert Trip was a three night music festival in Palm Springs chockablock full with total music legends. Sure, all the spots were off the charts amazing but there are no words for Paul McCartney’s performance. Hearing all those legendary songs played live was a once in a lifetime experience and the commentary in-between the tunes made me feel so damn lucky to be there. I had to pinch myself the whole time to make sure it was really happening!
Michael Jackson: One by Cirque Du Solei – If you love Michael Jackson just a smidgen as much as I do then you are going to adore Michael Jackson: One by Cirque Du Solei. This show was like an opulent buffet for the senses with crazy effects, people flying up the walls, incredible circus performances and even better dancing. Michael Jackson would have loved every minute of it!
Fremont Street, Las Vegas – Fremont Street is the original Vegas strip and is home to some of the first Nevada casinos. A super happening place with bars and entertainment to keep visitors happy. One of the more unique attractions is the huge ceiling canopy that covers five blocks of the strip and plays an awesome light and music show at regular intervals throughout the night. A great evening out!
What a trip of a lifetime! I’m sad to see it come to an end but I’m looking forward to planning my next overseas stint. Fingers crossed for Japan next year!
Until next time… That’s what she said.
