My Current Night-time Skincare Routine

IMG_3869

Skincare can be a fickle character. One minute you’ve devised the perfect routine, nek minnit your skin has a freak out and turns as dry as the Sahara or a bunch of blemishes appear for no apparent reason. Many of us ladies spend our time quite like members of the Night’s Watch. We dedicate our lives to protecting our skin’s surface and fighting those pesky White Walkers AKA whiteheads.

The Night’s Watch use swords and bows to ensure nothing gets past that wall. We ladies use skincare. I’m pretty chuffed by how my defence has been going as of late so I thought I would share my current night-time skincare regime with ya’ll. Now let’s cut the applause short for that stellar Game of Thrones analogy and jump right in!

First things first, I give my face a good ol’ cleanse with a blogger’s treasure, the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel. I love this product because you put it on a dry face and the gel easily melts your makeup away. You then finish the job by adding water and giving your face a good wash.

I know these two steps are a little topsy-turvy but after I cleanse I like to give my face a quick swipe with Bioderma Micelle Solution just to check that all the ol’ face paint is outta there.

I’m kind of on the fence about how necessary a toner actually is but hey, I’ll chuck it in for good measure! I’m currently finishing off The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Toner, which has a lovely calming effect on the skin and leaves a gentle, refreshing tingle. It looks like they have discontinued the one I’m using but this one looks pretty damn similar.

Okay so now it’s time to pile the moisture back on and I like to do that with the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate. These essential oils do their thing as I catch some z’s and I wake up with plenty of moisture and a touch more plumpness to the skin.

Moisturiser time! Benefit Total Moisture Facial Cream is my current fav which I slap on pretty generously and massage in, pretending I know how a facial massage should be done.

As we have been told that our under eyes need their own special moisturiser, I have been shlapping on Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado Extract. This stuff is the real, moisturizing, deal. This time we’ve switched sides and are more like the wildlings fighting the crows (feet)! BOOM.

I also use the Dermalogica Overnight Clearing Gel to dot on when any pesky pimples wish to ruin my day but I’m not entirely convinced on it’s effectiveness.

Anyone know of an amazing spot treatment I should be testing?

Until next time… That’s what she said.
