Jamface by Poh, Stall 28-29, Adelaide Central Markets, ADELAIDE.

I’m sure you’ve all heard the news that Poh, one of Adelaide’s favourite girls, has opened a stall in the Adelaide Central Markets. And the word on the ‘foodie’ street? Jamface is serving up some solid nosh. Enough said.

Immediately upon approaching Poh’s stall I spotted the familiar Jamface logo. The stall is an eclectic kind of place with rustic metal and wood stools, tiled tables, an array of varied art pieces and a blackboard-paint pillar displaying its succinct selection of fare.

Okay enough of that, let’s skip to the part where I talk about the food.

Speaking to the pleasant ladies at the counter we learnt that Jamface has a small range of breakfast dishes, an assortment of pre-made lunch items (I spotted some enticing pies and rolls in the fridge display), fresh juices, sweets made from scratch and what I would call the pièce de résistance– Neapolitan Pizza Fritta!

As you have likely guessed from my excitement, we ordered up a couple of their pizza fritta’s to gobble as well as a Jamface juice to wash down those sweet, sweet carbs.

As soon as I got a whiff of the pizza fritta placed before me I knew it was going to be a total delight. The dough was fresh, dense and oiled-up like a body builder. Fried dough has to be one of man’s greatest achievements right? The pizza was topped with a flavoursome and fresh tomato sauce, a sprinkling of cheese and a handful of whole basil leaves. Voula!

This is a perfect example of a simple meal made show-stopper by the use of fresh, quality ingredients.

For the juice I went with a watermelon, strawberry and mint concoction which was thick and refreshing. Watermelon juice – a bitter sweet revelation of loving every sip whilst feeling that niggling sadness of knowing how many years were wasted before discovering it.

We couldn’t waddle home without taking a few of the home-made sweets with us. We went with a ‘Milly Filly’ vanilla slice and a banana pineapple cream cake. Both baked goods were bangin’ but the Milly Filly is really the stuff of dessert dreams. Browned, buttery puff pastry with decadent crème patissiere layers throughout. The love is real folks!

So thank you Jamface for a bloody good end to a hard work week. I’ll be seeing you again real soon.

Until next time… That’s what she said.
