When I get the opportunity to spend some quality time alone, I like to take it very chill. This usually consists of bed snuggling and book reading or something of the sort. So here is what I read, watch, smell, eat and drink when recharging the ol’ battery.
Reading: Currently smashing The First Bad Man by Miranda July. This is a gritty somewhat bizarre story told through the narrative of a middle aged woman called Cheryl. Cheryl is an ‘all in her head’ kinda woman and the endless battles she endures in her mind often result in her forgetting to live in the real world. This novel keeps you guessing. At times I found her to be completely and utterly bizarre and at others, strangely relatable.
Sometimes it’s a refreshing change to read a book exploring the thoughts we often hide. No apologies given. Looking forward to turning the final page on this one!
Watching: Okay, so you may have guessed already, but I’m totally into food #sorrynotsorry. My boyfriend and I just annihilated the ultimate food porn series AKA Chef’s Table. The cinematography is exceptional with each slow motion shot of the exquisite meals making you wonder if food might just be the answer to all of life’s problems. If you’re into food, you will love this. Like, LOVE it. The devastation was real when I discovered there was only one season. Please sir, I want some more.
Burning: P.F. Candle Co. is a small batch candle company based in Los Angeles. They have some suuuuper awesome fragrances like Teakwood & Tobacco, Summer Breeze and Campfire. The scents are more subtle than others so if you like a huge fragrant hit from your candlees then they might not satisfy but I totally dig the scent selection. I’m going gaga over the campfire candle I’m burning at the mo.
Eating: I’ve just discovered sweet potato crisps and I have seen the bottom of more bags than I care to admit. They are just so damn good! Tell me I’m not alone here?
Drinking: My new favourite tea is the mint chocolate rooibos tea by Your Tea. A perrrffff relaxing, sweet drop for when you’ve hit your chill stride.
Doing: Whether I’m back-to-backing my current favourite show on Netflix or flipping through my latest read I like to get a touch of multi-tasking in. And what better way to do that then bung on a purifying face mask? My face mask of the current hour is Aesop’s Parsley Seed Facial Cleansing Masque. A clay mask that simply does not mess around. Great for a deep clean, leaving your skin feeling cleansed and buffed whilst drawing out the impurities like no one’s bizz.
I hope you’ve found a little ‘laxin’ inspo today! Let me know what your favourite face mask is. I’d love to try out a newie!
Until next time…That’s what she says.
