My Top 5 Red Lipsticks

(Clockwise from top – Lady Danger, Diva, Chili, Viva Glam I, Russsian Red)

Nothing makes a gal feel more va-va-voom than a dynamic coat of red on her lips. It provides an air of sophistication with a hint of Scarlett Johanson-esque sizzle.

The power of the right rouge should not be underestimated. Consequently, I have embarked on a quest to find the most drop dead gorgeous reds in town. And where did I find them, you ask? MAC Cosmetics…. I knooowww, I can’t keep myself away!

So here are my current top 5 reds. For the love of lipstick, have a gawk and let me know what you think.

Viva Glam I – When you glide this deep blood-red shade over your lips you feel like a sexed-up member of the True Blood cast. This lipstick is bold yet moisturizing and puts an interesting twist on the classic red lippie look. A winner in my books.

Chili – To me, this punchy brick-red hue just screams Autum. Picture you, in the park, surrounded by rusty coloured leaves, wearing nothing but this lipstick. END SCENE. Okay the birthday suit bit is optional but you can see where I’m going with this right? Chili is a high pigment, low dry factor lipstick which is well worth a squiz. LOVE IT.

Diva – As the name suggests, this lipstick adds a certain amount of glamour to ones guise. This highly pigmented deep red rouge is the showstopper of all showstoppers.  It’s super opaque so it only takes one swipe of the bullet to transform one into a diva queen AKA Mariah Carey circa ’97.

Russian Red – Whaaaaat a cult classic it is, and rightly so. This deep matte shade is smoother than John Stamos and seldom requires reapplication. Perfff for a hot date when you want a red lip with a touch more ‘sulty’.

Lady Danger – I don’t like to choose favourites amongst my children but if I had one… this would be it. Holy hell this red has more pop than a 90’s ‘So Fresh’ album. Lady Danger is a matte formula so it has some serious stay power although impressively isn’t too drying on the lips. Yes-please-thank-you-very-much.

Until next time…That’s what she said.
